Tungsten boride is compound of tungsten and boron. Its most remarkable property is high hardness.

Chemical formula is composed by two molecular of tungsten, five molecular of boride. Molecular weight is 428.79. Appearance is black powder.

Chemical property

Main content of tungsten boride is tungsten boride with over 98 percent. The tungsten content is no less than 86%, boride content is no more than 0.1%.

3.Tungsten Boride Producing Process

Tungsten boride can be sintered at 1200 ～ 1300 ℃ in vacuum or argon with 2mol of tungsten and 5mol of boron powder.

4.Tungsten Boride Application

Tungsten boride application includes: high temperature applications, e.g. crucibles, thermal spraying powder, crucibles for non-ferrous metals, manufacture of cutting tools, ballistic protection, superhard material additive, material intermediate.
