A sinker is a device, usually made of tungsten, which is used to weight the line and bait to keep it on the bottom. We have talked about how to rig live bait for bottom fishing with tungsten bell sinker. Now we talk something about tungsten walking sinker
1. Insert the end of your main line through a walking sinker.
2. Tie the end of the main line to one end of a two-way barrel swivel. Tie the other end of the barrel swivel to one end of your leader.
3. Tie the other end of your 18 inches of leader line to a hook. A minnow can be hooked through the lips, a leech can be hooked under the sucker, or a night crawler can be hooked straight through, one-quarter of an inch from its tip.

Both salt- and fresh-water anglers catch fish using live bait. Many live bait presentations involve targeting bottom-dwelling fish. The problem is keeping your bait on or near the bottom. There are a variety of methods used by anglers, but what they all have in common is that they all employ some form of a sinker. A sinker is a device, usually made of tungsten, which is used to weight the line and bait to keep it on the bottom. We hold tungsten bell sinker for example.
1. Tie a half-ounce bell sinker to the end of your line. If you are fishing in a river with heavy current, you might want to use a heavier sinker.
2. Tie a no-slip, slip knot about one foot up the line from the sinker. This knot is also known as a loop knot because it is nothing more than a loop tied in the line.
3. Pinch the line at the end of the loop to make a point. Insert this point into the eye of the hook you intend to use.
4. Hook a minnow through its lips. A leech can be hooked just under its sucker. A night crawler should be hooked straight through, about one-quarter inch from the tip of its head.

How to Use a Tungsten Alloy Slip Sinker

Fishermen use tungsten alloy slip sinkers to fish on the bottom with live-bait rigs for such fish species as catfish and walleyes. Anglers thread the sinkers onto the fishing line, but the line can slip through the sinker, so when a fish grabs the bait, it does not feel unnatural pressure from the sinker.
1.Slide the sinker onto the end of the fishing line. When selecting a slip sinker, make sure it is heavy enough to hold the rig on the bottom.
2.Tie a barrel swivel onto the end of the fishing line. One of the best knots to use for this purpose is a Palomar knot.
Tie a 24- to 48-inch piece of fishing line to the other end of the barrel swivel.
3.Cast the slip-sinker rig out. Drop it to the bottom, if you are drifting or trolling. as soon as you feel a bite, let line off the spool of your reel so the fish can swim off without feeling additional weight.
4.Count to 10 and turn the reel handle slightly clockwise so line stops coming off the spool. Point the rod tip toward the fish and wait for the line to tighten. When it does, sweep the rod tip to set the hook in the fish's mouth.

Possessing a variety of sinker weights is an effective fishing strategy whether you use live or artificial bait. Studying the feeding habits of the species of fish you are pursuing is a good way to come up with an effective strategy.
Tungsten bell sinkers are best for fishing from the shore. These sinkers have an aero-dynamic profile, making them easy to cast in the wind, which reduces the chance of catching a snag while reeling them in. They are also effective when bounced along the bottom when trolling with live bait from a boat.
Install a tungsten walking sinker when fishing for walleye. The weight distribution and shape allows the sinker to easily drag along the bottom with a live bait rig without getting snagged. The walking sinker is also able to slide over rocks and various other structures that often hide feeding wall
