Natural Sapphire

Natural sapphire material (Sapphire) usually refers to the single crystal form of aluminum oxide (Al2O3). Natural sapphire ingot contains a small amount of titanium and iron which gives it sapphire's blue color. Sapphire is a gem-quality corundum that is found in any color other than red (ruby). Pure corundum is colorless aluminum oxide (Al2O3). Though most people think of sapphires as being blue, the gem can be found in almost any color, due to the presence of trace amounts of metals such as iron, chromium, and titanium.

Natural sapphire ingot material is rarely used for sapphire wafer manufacturing due to the impurities occurring in the natural crystals, and the small natural crystal size.
