European Commission Initiative specification raw materials trade in conflict areas

European Commission announced that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton and Trade Commissioner De Gucht joint proposal to require EU countries agreed to stop profiting from raw materials trade financing conflict. The purpose of this proposal is to prevent or reduce areas of conflict or high- risk areas by armed groups in the raw materials trade to support its armed actors , the EU requires companies to adopt a responsible attitude and get tin , tantalum, tungsten, gold and other raw materials through legal channels .
The proposal also put forward a series of recommendations to promote European companies support the norm : For manufacturers phones , copiers , computers, etc. containing tin , tantalum, tungsten and other metals to give incentives through government procurement ; take a responsible approach to obtain raw materials from conflict areas the company gives public recognition ; through policy dialogue and diplomatic ways to cooperate with the national mining, processing and consumption in order to get more countries involved in irregularities ; implementation of development cooperation with the countries concerned ; member governments through their policies support.
