Tungsten alloy syringe shield is the optimal syringe shield for radiation protection as tungsten alloy, a new radiation shield material, has higher density than lead and superior radiation absorption than lead. And tungsten alloy is more acceptable as it is a “green” alloy, while lead used in the past is toxic. Also, tungsten alloy has properties of good machinability, good corrosion resistance, and high strength. Besides, tungsten alloy can provide the same degree of protection as lead while significantly reducing the overall volume and thickness of syringe shields.
