Tungsten alloy syringe shield applied for PET is made of high density tungsten alloy and lead glass. After special processing, such a syringe shield has a good radiation shielding effect on short-lived radionuclides such as 18F, 11C, etc, to provide good external radiation protection for nuclear medicine workers. PET is an abbreviation of Positron Emission Computed Tomography in English, a relatively advanced clinical examination imaging technology in the field of nuclear medicine.

Studies have shown that tungsten alloy syringe shield applied for PET can be made of 90W-6Ni-4C alloy. It has an attenuation coefficient of 2.14 for a 0.5 MeV photon produced by positron annihilation, and the required thickness TVL = 10.8 mm for γ-ray attenuation by 10 times. The external radiation protection effectiveness during injection will be based on the actual dose rate measured at a distance of 10 cm from the shield, and the actual tungsten alloy shield thickness will be considered on the basis of optimization.
