Cs0.32WO3 Applied for Transparent Glass Coating

Cs0.32WO3, as a useful near infrared (NIR) absorber or heat shielding additive, is mainly applied to prepare transparent glass coating. The prepared coating is environmentally friendly and highly transparent with high heat insulation and heat preservation performance. And such an absorber or additive is employed in organic or inorganic substrates, for instance plastics, coatings, ceramics or glass.

It is known that NIR absorption can be achieved by decreasing the oxygen content of tungsten oxide (WO3). This is achieved by exposing tungsten oxide at an elevated temperature to a reducing atmosphere to create a Magneli phase tungsten suboxide (WO3-x). NIR absorption can also be achieved with the ternary addition of positive ions under reductive conditions into WO3, which leads to a tungsten bronze structure. For instance, potassium tungsten bronze and cesium tungsten bronze are each known. And now a new type of transparent glass coating of Cs0.32WO3 is well-known as a heat insulating coating.
