Tungsten Oxide, WO3-x Applied for Thermal Insulation Material

Tungsten oxide, WO3-x, may be used to prepare thermal insulation material such as transparent heat insulation film, environmentally friendly thermal insulation coating, and smart windows, etc. As the research progresses, these energy-saving materials are gradually entering people's lives. These thermal insulating materials will be used in energy saving reconstruction of building. Therefore, more and more experts and scholars are beginning to become familiar with tungsten oxide. For example, some experts used XD-3 polycrystalline X-ray diffractometer to measure the X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrum of the tungsten oxide nanopowder obtained by the experiment.

The figure above shows XRD patterns of WO3-x powder calcined at different temperatures for 2h. It can be seen from the figure that as the temperature increases, the XRD peak becomes sharp. That is because at lower temperatures, the particle size of the tungsten oxide is smaller, the crystallization is incomplete. As the temperature increases, the particles size becomes larger and the corresponding crystallization is more complete.
