Yellow Tungsten Oxide Nanopowder Applied for Electrochromic Film

Yellow tungsten oxide nanopowder, or tungsten trioxide nano powder, is an important raw material for preparing an electrochromic film, which is more and more widely applied to building glass to obtain smart glass with excellent optical properties. For example, some experts have prepared WO3 films of different temperatures on FTO conductive glass by pulsed DC reactive magnetron sputtering method.

The results showed that the obtained film changes from amorphous state to monoclinic system at 300°C. With the increase of temperature, the intensity of diffraction peak of WO3 increases, the degree of crystallization increases, the film becomes denser, and the surface is rougher. Experts also found that the relatively loose structure of the amorphous film is favorable for lithium ion extraction, but the structure is easy to be destroyed and can no longer be colored after repeated cycles. While the crystalline film is dense and the structure is more stable, which is favorable for coloring. The optical modulation amplitude of the film decreased in both amorphous and crystalline tungsten oxide films after 200 cycles. The cyclic stability of the crystalline WO3 film is better than that of the amorphous state, but it still needs to be improved.
