Mo-doping WO3 Applied for Electrochromic Film

Mo-doping WO3 electrochromic film may be applied in smart windows for heat insulation, that is, for energy conservation and environmental protection. So, with the promotion of the application prospect of doped tungsten trioxide in the field of smart windows, more and more experts have shown great interest in this electrochromic material.

For example, some experts have analyzed the structural morphology of molybdenum-doped tungsten trioxide. The XRD patterns of as-prepared Mo-doping WO3 powder (a) and FE-SEM image of Mo-doping WO3 (b) are shown as below.

a is XRD pattern of as-prepared Mo-doping WO3 powder and b is FE-SEM image of Mo-doping WO3

As can be seen from the figure, the XRD pattern corresponds to the diffraction peak of the monoclinic phase W0.71Mo0.29O3, which proves that the doped WO3 is converted from the orthogonal phase to the monoclinic phase. And a broader diffraction peak shows that the prepared powder has a smaller particle size. It can be seen from the field emission scanning electron micrograph (FE-SEM) that Mo-doped WO3 are nanoparticles with the particle size of about 20nm. That is to say, after doping, the particle size of WO3 is reduced from 1μm to 20nm, which is mainly because the embedding of Mo makes the crystal structure of WO3 disordered, and therefore hinders the directional growth of crystal nuclei, finally obtains small-sized nanoparticles.
