Some experts have analyzed the structural morphology of the tungsten trioxide nanosheet. The XRD pattern of tungsten trioxide nanosheet (a) and the FE-SEM image of WO3 nanosheet (b) is as shown as below.

a is XRD pattern of tungsten trioxide nanosheet b is FE-SEM image of WO3 nanosheet

As can be seen from the figure, the XRD pattern corresponds to the diffraction peak of the orthorhombic phase WO3∙0.33H2O, demonstrating that WO3 prepared under undoped conditions is hydrated WO3. From the field emission scanning electron micrograph (FE-SEM), it can be seen that the morphology is a snowflake cluster formed by nanosheet, wherein the thickness of a single nanosheet is about 30nm, and the size of the snowflake cluster is about 1μm. The large size makes it difficult to obtain stable inks and uniform films during application, and the larger size increases the ion/electron transport path inside the material and affects its response speed. Therefore, at this time, it is necessary to dope tungsten trioxide with other elements. Doping not only improves the electron transport efficiency of the material, but also increases crystal structure disorder and ultimately affects material growth. And therefore, in the preparation process, the expert will add molybdenum oxide and the like to increase the crystal structure disorder, thereby reducing the size of the prepared hydrated WO3 and improving the electrochromic property.
