Hydrated WO3 Nanosheet Applied for Flexible Electrochromic Electrode

Hydrated WO3 nanosheet can be prepared by a simple, green solution process of high quality, and the prepared WO3 can be used to prepare flexible electrochromic electrode, i.e., electrochromic film, by low pressure electrodeposition method. And the obtained WO3 electrochromic film has good thermal insulating performance for applying in building window glass or car window glass.
Some experts have assembled the prepared film into a device of a half-cell structure. The schematic illustration for the electrochromic device preparation process is shown as below.

How to assemble the electrochromic device? Firstly, a small hole was drilled on the FTO conductive glass by a sandblasting punching device as a counter electrode. The prepared WO3 film was used as a working electrode, and the double faced adhesive tape was used as a separator. The working electrode and the counter electrode are assembled and compacted. The electrolyte was then injected from the well by vacuum suction and the wells were sealed with a Surlyn film and a glass slide.
