Tungsten Oxide Electrochromic Film

Tungsten oxide electrochromic film can be prepared by a constant potential deposition method in a solution of peroxo-tungstic acid in ethanol. By setting annealing temperatures of 60°C, 100°C, 250°C and 500°C, the experts studied the effects of different annealing temperatures on the crystal structure and electrochromic properties of WO3 thin films. They found that:

When the temperature is greater than 100°C, the coloring efficiency and discoloration range of the tungsten oxide thin film begin to decrease. The coloring efficiency of the film at an annealing temperature of 60°C was five times or more that of 500°C. Studies have also shown that the degree of crystallization and microstructure of the film affect the discoloration properties of the film at the same time: the larger the grain size, the slower response time and lower coloration efficiency. And if the surface area is larger, it is more favorable for the color change reaction.
