The domestic rare earth market has shown a pattern of rebound after excessive declines. Specifically, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide has increased by approximately 1,000 yuan/ton, terbium oxide by about 50 yuan/kg, and dysprosium oxide by around 20,000 yuan/ton. However, whether this price rebound will be short-lived remains to be seen, as current downstream demand still falls short of expectations.
According to Chinatungsten Online, since mid-May, prices of major light and heavy rare earth products have been declining significantly, erasing the gains made from March to mid-May. This trend is due to factors such as previous price increases, increased market spot inventory, and insufficient consumption capacity of downstream users. Some product prices have even fallen below their previous lowest points.
Since mid-May, the price of terbium oxide has dropped from about 6,700 yuan/kg to around 4,950 yuan/kg, compared to the previous low of around 5,300 yuan/kg in early March. Dysprosium oxide prices have fallen from about 2,140,000 yuan/ton to around 1,660,000 yuan/ton, with the previous low being around 1,810,000 yuan/ton in early March. Praseodymium-neodymium oxide prices have decreased from about 510,000 yuan/ton to around 362,000 yuan/ton, while the previous low was around 425,000 yuan/ton in late March.
