Chinese rare earth prices this week showed similarities to the previous week, with praseodymium-neodymium (PrNd) prices fluctuating downward, while dysprosium-terbium (DyTb) prices remained stable with a slight upward trend.
In the light rare earth market, as magnetic material enterprises are mainly focused on depleting their inventory and numerous suppliers are rationalizing their quotes to retrieve funds, prices have seen a rational downward adjustment. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, apart from the increased downstream demand, the main reason for the recent upward adjustment in quotes by holders is the significant one-month decline in DyTb prices since returning from the National Day holiday.
As per information from Zhongtung Online, the current prices are compared to the previous week as follows: PrNd oxide prices have decreased by approximately 10,000 yuan/ton, representing a 2.02% decline; PrNd metal prices have decreased by about 12,000 yuan/ton, marking a 1.98% decline; Terbium oxide prices have increased by around 330 yuan/kg, showing a 4.30% increase; Dysprosium oxide prices have increased by about 80,000 yuan/ton, reflecting a 3.05% increase; 55N NdFeB blank prices have decreased by approximately 5 yuan/kg, indicating a 2.00% decline; NdFeB waste PrNd prices have decreased by around 10 yuan/kg, representing a 1.92% decline.
On the news front, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in November 2023, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the manufacturing industry in China was 49.4%, a 0.1 percentage point decrease from the previous month, indicating a slight decline in the manufacturing industry's business activity. In terms of enterprise scale, the PMI for large enterprises was 50.5%, a 0.2 percentage point decrease from the previous month but still above the critical point; the PMI for medium-sized enterprises was 48.8%, a 0.1 percentage point increase from the previous month but below the critical point; and the PMI for small enterprises was 47.8%, a 0.1 percentage point decrease from the previous month and below the critical point.
