China’s Ammonium Metatungstate and Ferro Tungsten Prices Stabilize in the Middle of April

China’s ammonium metatungstate (APT), tungsten powder and ferro tungsten prices continue to maintain stability on April 14, 2022. the production and sales of the cemented carbide industry and its downstream automobile consumers have slowed down due to the supply chain interruption caused by the closure and control of Shanghai, an important production and logistics distribution center, with the impact of COVID-19. 

In addition, under the current complex and changeable macro environment, buyers and sellers have slightly different views towards the outlook, especially the expectation on the continuity of demand for tungsten products is temporarily unclear. The market liquidity is slow, and transactions are limited.

On the macro side, benefiting from the recovery of global demand and the first recovery of China's industrial manufacturing industry, China's foreign trade in the first quarter of 2022 has achieved a stable start. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, in March, China's total import and export value was 3.21 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. Among them, exports were 1.75 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%; imports were 1.45 trillion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%. 

From January to March, the total value of imports and exports was 9.42 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%. Among them, exports were 5.23 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.4%; imports were 4.19 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. In the first quarter, ASEAN, the European Union, the United States and South Korea were China's top four trading partners.
