China’s APT Export Market Turned Quiet in the Middle of September

Analysis of latest tungsten market from Chinatungsten Online

Tungsten concentrate and ammonium paratungstate (APT) prices in China were stable on Thursday September 17 after increased availability of both products in the market prevented prices from extending last week’s gains.

At the same time, the slowly recovering APT export market has turned quiet once more, with China-based sources reporting fewer inquiries from overseas buyers. Sources expressed that some traders had sold off their concentrate stocks last week, which increased supply in the market and put a cap on further price increases.

As for the international markets, prices for APT in both Europe and the United States went up for the second consecutive week in the seven days to Thursday, while sentiment in China also improved with buyers returning to the market after an extended summer break. The European and US markets both followed China’s domestic market upward.
