The 2018 World Series darts tournament continued on the weekend, and Rob Cross, who was born in the 90s, won the title of Brisbane Darts Masters. He is the sixth champion of 2018 PDC World Series of Darts.
The other five champions are Austrian darts player Mensur Suljovic of the German Darts Masters, Scottish professional darts player Gary Anderson of the American Darts Masters, the British professional darts player Michael Smith of the Shanghai Darts Masters, Dutchman professional darts player Michael Van Gerwen of the Auckland Dart Masters, and Scottish professional darts player Peter Wright of the Melbourne Dart Masters.
Rob Cross defeated Michael Van Gerwen 11-6 in the final of the Brisbane Darts Masters. This score is also the second highest in his career. Michael Van Gerwen only appeared twice, with an average score of 99.15 and 98.44 respectively. Although Rob Cross has entered the finals and seems likely to win, it is not his glorious comeback.
Rob Cross entered the finals of the two series of darts earlier this year, and it was the third time that he had won the competition in Brisbane. In another high quality match, he defeated Dutch star, Van Gerwen, 11-6. The average scores of Cross and Germen are both more than 100.
Earlier in the night of Brisbane Darts Master Finals, Van Gerwen had defeated his fellow Dutchman Raymond Ban Barneveld 11-9 to reach the final. Although he eventually missed a series of darts, he lost in the battle against Rob Cross and ended his competitions ahead of schedule.
Robb Cross is one of the leaders of the new generation players of the darts. In the finals of the 25th World Championships in Alexandra Palace, London, England, although it was the first time he participated in the world tournament, he was fearless and dared to fight. He faced the world number one in their epic World Championship semi-final and upset Gerwen after a long battle which stops Dutch dream of defending the title of World Darts Championship.
Before 2016, Rob Cross was just a normal bar darts player. When he participated in the professional competition in the first year, it was a miracle that he made it to the last 32 before falling to world number one Michael van Gerwen. In many competitions, he repeatedly played against the famous Van Gerwen. Although he lost in the end, he also won a lot of attention. In 2017, he won the championship of the Player Challenge, and also defeated Wright, Lewis and other great players in various competitions.
The World Series of Darts Championships is a series of TV darts competitions organized by the PDC (World Professional Darts League). It has been broadcast live by the BBC Sports Channel since 1978. In 2018, there will be six World Series and one playoff finals. Brisbane, Australia and Vienna, Germany will host the competition for the first time.
This year's competition begins with the German Darts Masters, and the final will be held in Vienna, Austria, on 2nd – 4th November. At that time, the top eight players in the world darts rankings, the unqualified top four players from the PDC Merit Award and four to eight players invited by PDC directors will participate in the championship.
