How to Improve Concentration & Skill for Darts

If you want to improve your dart game, there are some common bad habits that you can learn to avoid. It's also important to concentrate on certain things, such as your stance and the position your body's in before and during your throw. Also, make sure that your body is entirely relaxed while playing darts; tensing your muscles or standing in an uncomfortable position will only work against you and lower your dart throwing accuracy. Practice will make your dart throws perfect and concentrate your energy on the right stance.

1.Maintain a steady stance, making sure to not lean over the line. While it sounds like it would make sense to lean over the line a bit to get closer to the dart board, this will actually destabilize your balance. Evenly distribute your weight between both of your feet. You can put one foot forward, but don't lean on it more than on your other foot.

2.Hold the dart straight, horizontal and level. Use three fingers to grip the dart firmly enough to keep it steady but not too tightly so that you're tensing your fingers. If your fingertips turn white, you're holding the dart too tightly. Most often, people will err on the side of gripping the dart too firmly, not too loosely. Spread the fingers out that you are not using; don't make a fist with them.

3.Aim at the dartboard; don't look at the dart as you're aiming or throwing.

4.Throw the dart, releasing your hand and fingers all at once, and following through with your arm toward the board after letting go of the dart.

How to Play Killers in Darts

An excellent game for playing darts is called “killers.” In this game, you will find enough enjoyment and challenge to help you in other dart games that you like to play. While there aren’t any points associated with the game, it still takes a fair level of skill to win.

1.Determine the player who goes first by seeing who can get closest to the bull’s eye in one throw. Record names in order of turn, and place three marks to the right of each name indicating the number of “lives” each player has.

2.Throw the dart with the opposite hand of familiarity. For example, if you are right-handed, throw your dart with your left hand. All players must follow this rule. Once a number is hit, no one else can claim it as theirs.

3.Hit the double (B) ring of your own number to become a “killer.” You can also become a killer by hitting the double (B) ring in your initial throw. The other rings are immaterial in this game.

4.Once a killer, hit the double (B) ring of your opponents three times to eliminate them from the game. This number can be altered to a higher or lower number that is set at the outset of the game.

5.If you hit your own double ring, count it as a kill and erase one life from your own name.

How to Learn Darts

Darts is a traditional game in which a player throws darts at a colorful target board in the shape of a circle. A common bar game, the game of darts also provides team events and tournaments for professional players. There are many types of darts that you can play. Most restaurants and bars that offer darts hold tournaments for cash prizes as well. The game of darts is easy to learn if you have your own board and darts to play with. Many websites provide guides for step-by-step references on the points system as well as how to hold and throw the dart to get the most points.

1.Buy a darts game for your home. Dart boards and supplies come with game play tips and tricks as well as scoring information and explanation of the different colors on the board. If you practice at home with a dart board, then you come to have a basic understanding of darts.

2.Find a darts playing guide online. Many videos and step-by-step references show the basics of playing darts. Recrooms is one resource, but Dick's Sporting Goods also provides a guide for darts.

3.Watch videos of others playing darts. Darts involves correct throwing form, which is tricky for the beginner. However, after watching a few videos, you know how to hold the dart, where to place your feet, and the accurate way to throw a dart at the target board.

4.Find dart tournaments in your local area. Search for "billiards" your local area. Billiards locations usually have dozens of darts boards. Restaurants and bars offering billiards often have darts tournaments for anyone to enter as well.

Halex Dart Board Instructions

The Halex Dart Board is an electronic dart board that makes it easy for players to keep track of scoring. A computer in the board registers the scores and calculates them so players don't have to do the math. These dart boards are designed for soft tip darts only---metal-tip darts will damage them.
Mounting
A Halex dart board should be mounted on a wall that has about 10 feet of space in front of it and an electrical outlet within easy reach. It should be mounted on screws that are anchored in studs---or anchor bolts, if studs aren't available---79 3/4 inches above the floor. You may need to adjust how far the screws are screwed in to hold the dart board firmly against the wall. Create an official toe line 7 feet, 9 1/4 inches from the wall on which the dart board is mounted.

Operation
After the A/C adapter is plugged into the electrical outlet, press the "Power" button located in the lower-right corner. When the music stops, the dart board will be powered up and ready.

How to Play Electronic Darts

Dart boards have been a staple of most Rec rooms, pool halls and bars for decades. It’s arguably second only to pool in games of skill you can play with your friends to unwind and have a good time. Recent years have seen the arrival of electronic dart boards, big machines that keep scores for a variety of different types of games so that you don’t have to. While they can certainly seem more overwhelming than a standard dart board, in reality they really aren’t. By following a few simple steps you can feel just as comfortable playing darts on a big electronic unit as you do on your old wooden board.

1.Turn on the machine. If you are in a bar or someplace similar this requires you to put quarters in the unit to get it to work. If you’re at home, you get off cheap. Just plug it in.

2.Read the instructions for the machine (printed on the unit itself if you’re in a public place or in your instruction manual if you’re at home) to find out which games are available for play. Access the menu (different units have different menus, though all work on the same principles) and choose the one that interests you. Teams may also be chosen at this time, if that is required.

3.Familiarize yourself with the rules of the game you are playing. Certain games require you to get only a certain number of points, while basic Cricket requires you to get three of each number starting with 15 and going higher (this includes the bulls eye).

4.Start your game and enjoy yourself. Keep in mind that scoring is automatic, so once you’ve selected which game you’ll be playing all you have to do is aim and throw. Pay attentions to lights that will indicate which individual or team currently has their turn, and also to the score indicator. The games will be played the exact same way they would be on a regular dart board, with the only exception being that instead of the steel-tipped darts of a wooden board you’ll be playing with plastic tips.

How to Play Darts Like a Professional

Darts is a classic game that many have played but that very few play correctly. A lot more goes into each dart throw than most people think. Below are a few tips to get you started toward playing darts like a professional.

1.The most obvious step that many people overlook is practice. People often only practice darts when they are in the game. Take some time, and play by yourself. Figure out what works best for you. Ten-minute sessions each day will significantly improve your dart game.

2.When approaching a throw, stand in a relaxed, comfortable position. People tend to tense up when focusing on making the perfect throw. This can cause you to become unbalanced, and weaken the accuracy of your shot.\

3.Balance is one of the single most important aspects of the game you can work on. Professional players may raise their foot up slightly when throwing, but never at the risk of their balance. Beginners tend to lean forward, trying to get their arm closer to the board when they throw. This takes you off balance and skews the path of the dart.

4.When you bring the dart up for a throw, hold it straight and level. Avoid tipping the end of the dart down or to the side. The direction the dart is angling when it is released is the direction it will fly. Straight and level will give you the best throw.

5.When aiming your throw, do not look at the dart. Beginners tend to watch the dart, trying to angle it, and guide it where they want it to go. Keep your focus on the board. Looking at the board focuses your attention and gives you a better sense of what you are aiming for. You will tend to refocus your arm's position to match where you are looking. Think of it as if you were driving. You keep your eyes on the road, not on the wheel.

6.When you release the dart, open your hand all at once. Don't roll the dart off your fingers. Pretend you are throwing a baseball, rather than a dart. Opening your hand all at once allows the dart to fly straight and greatly improves your accuracy.

Playing "Cricket"

1.For Cricket, only focus on numbers 15-20, plus the bull's eye. The object of the game is to "close out" numbers 15-20 each three times; or to hit a double of one number and a single of the same number; or to hit a triple.

2.Set up a chalk board next to the darts board. In order, list the numbers 15 through 20 so that you can check off when a player has hit all three, or closed out a number.

3.Know that if you have closed out a number which your opponent hasn't, and you hit that number, you are awarded that many points. For example, you've closed out 16 but your opponent hasn't; you hit the 16, which means you get 16 points.

4.Know that the person who finishes with all their numbers closed out and the mostpoints wins. It's not just who finishes first — it's who closes out with the most points. The green bull is worth 25 points and the red bull is worth 50.

"01" Dart Rule

1.Know that the most common form of the game is simply known as "01." The object of the game is simple. Each player must reduce his score down to zero. Why is it called "01" then? "01" refers to the fact that each player always starts a game with a score that ends in "01". Single player games generally start with opponents staked 301 or 501 points. In larger, team games, the starting number of points can be set as high as 1001.

2.Mark the oche (pronounced /OCK-EE/). The oche is the line that a throwing player must stand behind. It is 7ft 9 1/4 inches from the face of the board.

3.Throw a dart to see who goes first. The person who gets closest to the double bull gets to throw first.

4.Have each player take turns throwing three darts each. The points the player scores are then subtracted from his starting total.
For example, if a player is starting with 301 points, and lands 54 points, his/her new total would be 247 points.

5As each player begins to approach 0 points, care must be taken to hit only the areas that are needed. This is because of the manner in which the game is won. In order to win, or "close-out" as it is called, you must reach exactly zero. In addition, the dart's score that brings you down to zero must be a double. For example, if a player has 2 points left, they must score a double 1. If he/she has 18 points left, the player must score a double 9.

If a double is not possible, such as a remaining total of 19 points, a player can score a single 3 first to bring the total down to 16. From there, the player can score a double 8 to finish the game.

Throwing the Dart

1.Get ready for a steady stance. Leaning forwards or backwards is tempting, but ffers the thrower less stability than if he/she were to stand upright. For right-handed players, keep your right foot in front and your left foot in back. Most of your weight should be resting on your right foot, although you don't want to be leaning forward excessively. For left-handed players, keep your left foot in front and your right foot in back. Most of your weight should be resting on your left foot, although you don't want to be leaning forward excessively.

2.Keep both feet firmly planted. You will want to keep your balance throughout the throw. Otherwise, you may pull or push the dart off in an unintended direction.

3.Get the right fingering on a dart. Take the dart in your dominant hand's palm and run it through your fingers until you find the center of gravity. Put your thumb a bit behind the center of gravity while placing at least two, and possible four, other fingers on the dart. Do what feels comfortable for you.

4.Keep the tip of dart up slightly, and try to move it as straight forward and backward as possible. Any extraneous movement here means that the dart will not ly straight.

5.moothly launch the dart straight forward. Do not throw too hard, it is unnecessary and dangerous.
Darts do not need a great deal of force to stick into the dartboard. Remember, the goal of the game is to score points, not determine who is strongest.

Understanding the Dartboard and Scoring System

1.Know that every dart board is the same. Each board is numbered from 1 - 20 in non-sequential order around the board. You play darts by throwing a small dart onto different parts of the board, counting your points as you go.

2.Notice that the board is split into distinct sections. Each section has points associated with that section. If a dart lands in the outer green or red sections, the thrower scores double that section's number of points.
For example, if you land inside the double ring under 18, you would score 36 points.

3.Know what happens when the dart lands in an "inner" red or green section. If a dart lands in the inner small green or red sections, the thrower scores triple that section's number of points.
If you land inside the triple ring under 18, for example, you would score 54 points.

4.Understand that the center of the board is called the bullseye. The bullseye is further split into two sections. The inner section (usually red) is called the "double bull" or "cork," and the outer section (usually green) is known as the "single bull" or just "bull."
If a dart lands in the green part of the bullseye, the thrower scores 25 points.

5.Know that the rest of the board is split into 20 separate sections, each with a number allocated to that section. If a dart lands in a (usually) yellow or black section, the thrower scores that number of points.Let's say you land an 18 in a single point area. You would receive exactly 18 points.
