Cs0.32WO3 may be applied to produce thermal insulation masterbatch for the production of heat insulation film as it has high near infrared absorption performance to shield the heat-ray from the sunlight into the room in the hot summer, thereby reducing the energy consumption for air conditioning, and decreasing the CO2 emission. After dissolving desired amounts of WCl6 and CsOH in ethanol separately, both solutions were added into the ethanol and acetic acid mixed solution to precipitate amorphous gel precursor, followed by solvothermal reactions at a desired temperature to form CsxWO3 nanocrystals by the dissolution crystallization mechanism. Besides, the product was dispersed in a collodion-ethanol mixed solution, and then, coated on a quartz glass by a doctor-blade method using an applicator of 12.5 μm film thickness to evaluate its NIR shielding performance.
