Nano cesium tungsten bronze, or nano CsxWO3, has excellent NIR shielding properties so that it is regarded as the best raw material for producing explosion-proof heat insulation coating. It is well known that nanoparticles of noble metals, rare-earth hexaborides, tin-doped indium oxide (ITO), etc., can shield NIR light due to the effect of the plasma vibration of the free electrons. However, because of their low visible light transparency or limited cover range of wavelength, new IR responsive materials development is required.

Recently, mixed valence state hexagonal tungsten bronze materials, such as CsxWO3, KxWO3, NaxWO3 and (NH4)xWO3 have been identified as effective materials for heat shielding applications. Usually the mentioned tungsten bronze materials are synthesized by some high temperature process such as solid state reaction, in which nanoparticles are difficult to be synthesized directly. It is expected that environmental friendly solution process is benefit to synthesis materials with homogeneous morphology and nano particle size, contribute to the improvement of functionality of the optical coating films.
