WO3 Electrochromic Film Applied for Heat Insulating Glass

WO3 electrochromic film for heat insulating glass can be prepared by a sol-gel method. For example, some experts have adopted sol-gel method to prepare tungsten trioxide electrochromic thin films, and designed the experiments by orthogonal design.

Finally, the experts found that the best experimental conditions are: 4 g of W powder, 20 mL of H2O2, and 10 mL of anhydrous ethanol. And the obtained WO3 film has a color change response time of at least 6 s. Also such film has a relatively uniform surface topography and high color change efficiency.

So, what is sol-gel method? The sol-gel technique refers to a method in which a metal organic or inorganic compound is solidified by a solution, a sol or a gel, and then heat-treated to form an oxide or other compound solid. According to different gel-forming mechanism in the sol-gel process, the sol-gel process can be classified into a traditional colloidal gel, an inorganic polymer gel and a complex sol-gel process.
