Amorphous Tungsten Oxide Electrochromic Film

Amorphous tungsten oxide electrochromic film has electrochromic properties, so it can absorb infrared rays. In other words, such film can absorb heat in sunlight to reduce room temperature. And therefore the heat insulating film is often used in the field of buildings or automobiles. Some experts obtained the amorphous WO3 film by sol-gel electrophoresis, and studied the transmittance of the film with the applied voltage.

The results show that when the voltage is gradually reduced from 1.5V to -1.0V, the absorption of the tungsten trioxide film also changes significantly. When no voltage is applied, the absorption of the WO3 film is almost zero. When a negative voltage is applied, absorption occurs at a wavelength of 500nm or more, and as the negative pressure increases, the absorption of the near-infrared also increases. At -0.8 V, the absorption at the 800nm band is above 0.25, and there is almost no absorption between 350nm and 500nm. That is to say, by adjusting the amount of injected ions, the optical properties of the WO3 film can be continuously changed.
