MoO3 doping WO3 electrochromic film is darker in colored state and in bleached state than the pure tungsten trioxide film. This is because MoO3 itself is an electrochromic material with a color change similar to WO3. The colored state of MoO3 film is blue-violet and the bleached state is yellow. And the colored state of the pure tungsten oxide film is blue, and the bleached state is almost colorless or transparent.

Experts say that the doping of molybdenum oxide has a certain influence on the electrochromic properties of the tungsten trioxide thin film. They adopted electron beam evaporation method to prepare tungsten trioxide electrochromic films with different MoO3 doping ratios. The optical properties and cyclic voltammetric properties of the colored and bleached states of the WO3 films were experimentally studied. They also discussed the electrochromic mechanism of the doped tungsten trioxide films by analyzing cyclic voltammetry curves.
