Rare earth market update on June 30, 2025
The domestic rare earth market showed overall poor performance at the beginning of the week, primarily due to varying degrees of price declines across most products and slow order growth.
This is largely attributed to insufficient inquiry and procurement enthusiasm from downstream users, coupled with a strong willingness among some suppliers to exchange volume for lower prices. Today, at 02:33 PM HKT on Monday, June 30, 2025, prices for praseodymium-neodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide decreased by approximately 1,000 yuan/ton, 30 yuan/kg, and 5,000 yuan/ton, respectively.
In related news, on June 27, 2025, a reporter asked: Recently, U.S. officials and media reported that China and the U.S. have reached a supplementary understanding on implementing the Geneva consensus framework, with China agreeing to accelerate rare earth exports to the U.S., and the U.S. correspondingly lifting certain restrictions on China. The Ministry of Commerce spokesperson responded: Under the guidance of the consensus between the leaders of China and the U.S., the two countries’ economic and trade teams held talks in London from June 9 to 10, reaching a principled agreement on implementing the key consensus from the June 5 leaders’ call and consolidating the outcomes of the Geneva economic and trade talks. Recently, with approval, both sides further confirmed the framework details. China will legally approve export applications for controlled items that meet the conditions. The U.S. will correspondingly lift a series of restrictive measures against China.
