Chromium Zirconium Copper Electrode

Chromium zirconium copper electrode has many advantages, such as low contact resistance, superior instantaneous high-temperature performance and excellent wear and explosion resistance, which can be widely used in resistance welding, EDM process and other occasions with high requirement to thermal and electrical conductivity.Chromium zirconium copper electrode, hardness is 78-88HRB, 160-185HV, tensile strength is 540-640MPa, electrical conductivity > 75%IACS, softening temperature is 550℃. Common products grades include GB QCr series and AS C series. The process generally combines cold working with heat treatment: vacuum casting - hot forging - solution technique - cold forging - heat treatment. So chromium zirconium copper electrode achieves high density and perfect mechanical and physical properties.

There are some appications of chromium zirconium copper electrode:
Resistance welding electrode: It mainly used as the electrode in low-carbon steel and coated steel plate spot welding or seam welding, which is also used for electrode grip, shaft and cushioning material, or as a large mold, fixture of projection welding machine, stainless steel and heat-resistant steel mold or inlaid electrode.EDM electrode: Chromium zirconium copper material has high hardness, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, wear resistance and explosion resistance, so it has perfect performance in verticality, toughness and not bend sheet used as EDM electrode.

Based on theoretical analysis and combined with the problems in concrete production, there are some main factors accounts for the failure of chromium zirconium copper electrode as follow:
1. A third of reason is that the bonding between welding wire and contact tip. It generally due to the large in aperture and out of round caused by the abrasion;
2. Welding temperature or speed controlled improperly, leading to deformation of the contact tip is softened, and the welding wire can not be effectively conducted.
