Tungsten Alloy Swaging Rod for Otomat

Tungsten alloy swaging rod consists of W-Ni-Fe, W-Ni-Cu, W-Ni-Cu-Fe. It is made of tungsten alloy rod. Tungsten content ranges from 90% to 97%. Compared with tungsten alloy rod, tungsten alloy swaging rod has higher hardness and higher strength. Tungsten alloy swaging rod can be used as raw materials of semi-armor-piercing warhead of Otomat.

Otomat  is an Italian-built, anti-ship and coastal attack missile first built by the Italian company Oto Melara jointly with Matra and now made by MBDA. The name comes, for the first version, from the name of the two builders (OTO Melara MATra) and, for the last versions, from the Italian word for Theseus. The warhead is in the front, behind the radar section and in front of the radio-altimeter and some other electronic systems. The HE warhead is of the semi-armor-piercing type and has a 65 kg Hertol type filler.

When explosives explorde, the warhead can carry high energy for high density of tungsten alloy swaging rod. Higher density means more kinetic energy.
