Applications of Molybdenum Sheet in Vacuum Furnaces

A vacuum furnace is a device that performs high-temperature heat treatment and material processing in a high-vacuum or inert gas environment. It is widely used in fields such as sapphire crystal growth, metal heat treatment, semiconductor manufacturing, and ceramic sintering. Due to its outstanding physical and chemical properties, molybdenum sheet is the preferred material for key components of vacuum furnaces, particularly in the fabrication of reflective screens, heating elements, and connectors.

I. Molybdenum Sheet for Reflective Screens in Vacuum Furnaces

The reflective screen is a core component of the vacuum furnace's heat field, primarily used to reflect thermal radiation, reduce heat loss, improve thermal efficiency, and protect the furnace structure from high-temperature damage. By reflecting infrared radiation back into the heating zone, the reflective screen maintains uniform temperature in the high-temperature area while minimizing heat transfer to the furnace walls, lowering energy consumption.

With a melting point of 2,623°C, molybdenum can maintain a stable crystal structure and excellent mechanical strength in high-temperature environments ranging from 1,000°C to 2,000°C, effectively resisting thermal deformation and melting risks. Additionally, through precision polishing, the surface finish of molybdenum sheet is significantly enhanced, further improving its reflectivity and achieving superior thermal shielding performance.

II. Molybdenum Sheet for Heating Elements in Vacuum Furnaces

Heating elements in vacuum furnaces convert electrical energy into heat to provide the required high-temperature environment. These elements must maintain stable resistance and mechanical strength at high temperatures to ensure long-term, reliable heating performance.

Molybdenum sheet, with its good electrical conductivity and high-temperature stability, is ideal for heating element applications. In high-temperature vacuum environments, molybdenum sheet can withstand high current densities without significant degradation, and its stable resistance ensures uniform heating. The chemical inertness of molybdenum sheet prevents reactions with the furnace environment or processed materials, extending the service life of heating elements and reducing replacement frequency.

III. Molybdenum Sheet for Connectors in Vacuum Furnaces

Connectors in vacuum furnaces are used to secure and link various heat field components such as reflective screens, heating elements, and crucibles, ensuring the stability of the heat field structure and electrical pathways. These connectors must exhibit mechanical strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures to maintain long-term reliability.

The excellent mechanical properties and high strength of molybdenum sheet make it suitable for processing into various connector shapes, such as clamps or support frames. The high-temperature resistance and chemical stability of molybdenum sheet ensure that connectors resist deformation, fracture, or chemical reactions under high temperatures, preserving the integrity of the heat field structure.
