A Method for Preparing Ammonium Paratungstate

Digest tungsten concentrate (such as scheelite) and tungsten-containing waste with sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide. In the preliminary purification process (such as precipitation or ion exchange treatment), add Mg salt, Al salt and sodium hydrosulfide to remove Si, P, F, Mo, As, Sb, Bi, Co, etc. in the obtained sodium tungstate solution. Then, convert the sodium tungstate solution into ammonium tungstate solution by liquid-liquid extraction using an amine-containing organic phase (e.g., 7-10% diisotridecylamine or 10% isodecyl alcohol, balance: petroleum spirit). Fractionate and evaporate the solution to separate APT, washing and drying. What should be noted is that the cost of APT prepared by this process is extremely high because evaporative crystallization requires high energy consumption.
