Ammonium metatungstate (AMT) is a white crystal powder or yellowish crystal powder with good water solubility, which can be used for preparation of diesel hydrogenation catalyst. For example, the researchers have proposed a method for preparing FCC diesel hydrorefining catalyst by using ammonium metatungstate as an active component.

Preparation of Diesel Hydrogenation Catalyst with Ammonium Metatungstate
Mix aluminum hydroxide dry glue, binder, squeeze aid and deionized water, and knead 3 times to squeeze into 1.5 clover shape on the extruder. After drying at 120 °C for 4 h, it is calcined in a muffle furnace at 550 °C for 4 h to form catalyst carrier. According to water absorption rate, calculate the amount of nickel nitrate and AMT required to prepare 100mL of impregnating solution, add deionized water to the beaker, add the weighed nickel nitrate and AMT to the beaker multiple times, fully stir and heat slightly until completely dissolved, cool to room temperature, transfer to a volumetric flask and make up for use. Weigh the mass of the carrier to be impregnated, and calculate the volume of the impregnating solution according to the water absorption rate. The carrier is impregnated with an equal volume impregnation method and then placed for 4 h, then dried in an oven at 120 °C for 4 h, and then calcined in a muffle furnace at 500 °C for 4 h to obtain the FCC diesel hydrogenation catalyst.
