According to the experts, WS2 has excellent heat resistance, and its oxidation temperature is about 100 °C higher than that of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2); moreover, it also has lubricity at a high temperature of 450 °C to help prevent sintering or seizure. WS2 has excellent extreme pressure performance to resist high surface pressure. WS2 has a lower coefficient of friction. In solid lubricants, its coefficient of friction has a tendency to decrease with increasing load. WS2 can extend the service life of components to reduce costs and industrial waste, and thereby protecting the environment. Tungsten disulfide is compatible with most oils and greases. Compared with graphite and MoS2, surface deposits of WS2 are reduced by half. Therefore, tungsten disulfide is regarded as a new solid lubricating material having great application prospects.
