Tungsten Oxide Doped Titanium Dioxide Photocatalyst

With the development of modern industry, the situation of air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution is getting worse and worse. People feel the harm of environmental pollution to themselves. Protecting the environment is to save themselves. People urgently need a low cost, high efficiency and energy for non-toxic degradation and purification.

Photocatalysis is the non-toxic degradation and purification of pollutants in the air, water and soil by using sunlight or other light sources. Its core is the use of photocatalysts. Common photocatalysts include tungsten oxide, titanium oxide, zinc oxide, bismuth oxide and so on.

Researchers used tungsten oxide doped titanium dioxide photocatalyst to improve its acidity by sulfate radical acidification after wrapping WO3 thin layer on the surface. Combining the advantages of the two photocatalysts, the chemical properties of the two photocatalysts will not change. They are non-toxic, easy to carry and operate, and will not form secondary pollution. The preparation process is as follows:

1.Use tungsten oxide WOx (2 < x < 3), including yellow tungsten oxide (WO3), blue tungsten oxide (WO2.9), Purple Tungsten Oxide (WO2.72). The titanium dioxide powder is dispersed in liquid medium such as ethanol of tungsten oxide with a certain concentration, and then fully stirred by ultrasonic wave, electromagnetic stirrer or mechanical stirrer. At the same time, the reaction vessel or vacuum pump are heated to remove the solvent until it becomes a solid mass. Then the solid mass is ground and burned in air or oxygen atmosphere (300-700 ℃). WOxtitanium dioxide powder was prepared.

2. Soak and stir WOx-TiO2 powder in 0.5~3M chlorosulfonic acid solution. After completely immersing, remove WOx-TiO2 powder quickly. The process should try to isolate the water vapor in the air and transfer it to the Mafu furnace at 120 °C. The volatile solvent was calcined at a constant temperature for 24 hours, and was chilled in an air or oxygen atmosphere at 300 to 600 °C for several hours, and then cooled to become a SO4 WOxTiO2 photocatalyst.

2.After the TiO2 powder is acidified by wrapping tungsten oxide and sulfate, it becomes a sulfated tungsten oxide doped titanium dioxide photocatalyst SO4-WOx-TiO2, which can be directly or indirectly used in sterilization, air pollution, material surface. For the treatment of decontamination, water pollution or soil pollution, it is also possible to simply change to a coating or other form of photocatalyst material according to the specific application requirements.
