Manufacturing Strategy of Tungsten Shield

Tungsten atomic number of 74, a density of 19.35g / cm3, has good radiation shielding properties, and does not produce secondary electron radiation, is used to make nuclear radiation shielding material ideal. But it is worth noting that tungsten is a refractory metal with high melting point and poor toughness and toughness. It is difficult to form and process and has high cost, so it is difficult to prepare applied parts with more complex shape. Therefore, it is subject to many limitations when applied.

In recent years, with the development of the nuclear industry, China's tungsten shield manufacturing technology has also been by leaps and bounds, and made great progress.

The preparation methods of tungsten shields are as follows:

1.The raw materials of good quality according to said recipe, and the antioxidant, vulcanization accelerator aids like rubber granules breaking down into powder.

2.The mixed filler preparation: tungsten powder, tungsten fiber, barite powder, rare earth oxide powder filler in a vacuum drying box for vacuum drying, and evenly mixed to prepare mixed packing in vacuum in a high-speed mixer.

3.Rubber mixing: sequentially adding rubber, activator, antioxidant, anti scorching agent, mixed filler, plasticizer, compatibility agent, vulcanization accelerator, curing agents in mixer, mixing evenly, open mill mixing roll, and a parking.

4.Extrusion and calendering: put the parking strip into the pin type cold feed extruder, squeeze it by hydraulic wide head, and roll it into sheet by calender, then cut it down and cool it down, then roll it with paper or cloth.

5.Vulcanization: open the double side of the paper, the calendering sheet is introduced into the vulcanizing machine for vulcanization and the reel is derived.

Shield composite without lead, radiation shielding, has good mechanical properties, and environmental friendly, flexible and easy processing, radiation shielding field can be used in the nuclear industry, nuclear medical, precision instruments, electronic machinery, nuclear waste and pollutants such as the nuclear crisis storage container.
