Tungsten Oxide Thin Film Cyclic Voltammetry

When testing the cyclic voltammetry of a tungsten trioxide film, the prepared sample is typically subjected to cyclic voltammetry using a self-made three-electrode system in solution. The cyclic voltammetry curve of tungsten trioxide thin film is shown in the figure.

Since tungsten trioxide film is amorphous, ion implantation and extraction are also random. It can be clearly seen from the figure that the polarization reaction peak during lithium ion implantation corresponds to the peak value of the reaction system. It can be seen from the figure that when the voltage is swept to about -0.2V, the current passes through the tungsten trioxide film. That is, there is a so-called driving voltage in the reaction system, and the coloring of the trioxide film occurs only when the voltage reaches this threshold.

When the tungsten trioxide film begins to rapidly change its color to dark blue, lithium ion will be extracted again by adding reverse voltage to the reaction system. This process corresponds to the fading of tungsten trioxide films. If you analyze the reason for this phenomenon, the difference between the material of the surface of the tungsten trioxide film and the electrolyte material is obvious. Lead to its electrochemical potential is naturally different. This produces an electromotive force that is exactly the opposite of the previous drive voltage. Proton will have the energy it needs to enter our tungsten trioxide film only if it overcomes this barrier. This is the driving threshold we should discuss when discussing the tinting of tungsten trioxide film.

From the macro observation of the cyclic voltammetry curve of the tungsten trioxide thin film in this figure, it is also possible to deduce that the tungsten trioxide thin film we prepared is a typical amorphous structure. It can be seen from the figure that the cyclic voltammetry curves of the first, 50th, and 100th tungsten trioxide thin films have little attenuation. This also shows that under the conditions of the prepared tungsten trioxide film has good recycle.
