China Rare Earth Price - January 15, 2021

China rare earth price was strong in the week ended Friday January 15, 2021 due to tight supply of raw materials and increased consumption of magnetic material companies.

This week, neodymium oxide price rose by 25,000 yuan/ton, praseodymium oxide price rose by 20,000 yuan/ton, neodymium praseodymium oxide price rose by 18,000 yuan/ton, neodymium praseodymium metal price rose by 20,000 yuan/ton, and terbium oxide price rose by 600 yuan/kg.

Favorable factors are mainly due to the shortage of rare earth spot resources. Affected by the rapid development of the global manufacturing industry and the recent national reserve actions, downstream users have also increased their purchasing enthusiasm, while the climate environment has deteriorated, environmental protection policies have tightened, and the epidemic has rebounded again. Under the background, the production capacity release of rare earth smelting enterprises has slightly shrunk

In terms of news: China exported 35447.5 tons of rare earths in 2020, down 23.5% year-on-year; in terms of prices, the average export price of rare earths increased slightly by US$0.2/kg to US$9.7/kg in 2020.
