Four new mineralization sites of tungsten, molybdenum, iron, and copper were discovered in Inner Mongolia. According to the Geological Survey Institute of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, recently, the Shenyang Geological Survey Center organized experts to carry out the field acceptance of projects undertaken by the Geological Survey Institute, and the project discovered 4 iron, copper, tungsten, and molybdenum mineralization sites, identified 1 mineralization alteration zone, and delineated 2 prospecting target areas.
The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has a wide variety of mineral resources, and it is an area rich in mineral resources in China. It is also the province with the most minerals discovered in my country. As of the end of 2019, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region had the highest reserves of 20 species in the country, 45 species in the top 3 in the country, and 95 species in the top 10 in the country. The reserves of rare earth resources ranked first in the world, and the Obo Mine is the largest rare earth mine in the world.
Porphyry deposits are large, low- to medium-grade deposits in which hypogene ore minerals are primarily structurally controlled and which are spatially and genetically related to felsic to intermediate porphyritic intrusions. The large size and structural control serve to distinguish porphyry deposits from genetically-related and unrelated deposit types. Supergene minerals may be developed in enriched zones in porphyry deposits by weathering of primary sulphides.
This project is the first round completed since the reform of the basic geological survey project. The mapping scientist is responsible for the guidance of the earth system science theory, oriented to the construction of ecological civilization, oriented to the management of natural resources, and is based on route geological survey and geological profile measurement. A comprehensive basic geological survey project for natural resource surveys has been carried out.
The project ascertained the Mesozoic and Late Paleozoic stratigraphic sequence and lithology and lithofacies change characteristics in the western Zalut Basin, determined the basin filling sequence, sedimentary construction, and time-space evolution rules, and restored and established the Permian prototype basin. Clarify the distribution characteristics of the main target strata of dark source rocks. The Mesozoic volcanic rock lithology, rock assemblage characteristics, volcanic rock facies, and volcanic structure characteristics were ascertained, and tectonic magmatism and its relationship with mineralization were discussed.
Combined with the latest regional geological survey results, the influence and manifestation of the eastern section of the Suolun-Linxi suture zone on the work area were discussed, and the work area structural framework was established. Through shallow drilling results and other data, the material composition, stratigraphic structure and neotectonic movement of the Quaternary loose deposits in the key areas of the western edge of the Keerqin Sandy Land were identified, and the characteristics of environmental evolution and ecological landscape changes were discussed.
With the four tungsten, molybdenum, iron, and copper mineralization sites newly discovered, the collection of mineralization and alteration information on the surface has been strengthened in Inner Mongolia.
