Day permitted to develop the South Bird Island seabed deposits rich in rare earth metals

According to Japanese news network reported that the Japanese Ministry of Economy published news that the Japanese government has gained in Japan, the easternmost South Bird Island offshore seabed mineral development rights.

Reported that a preliminary investigation showed that the presence in the South Bird Island offshore seabed there are plenty of platinum, rare earths, cobalt and other precious metal deposits. Government of Japan through Japan Oil, Gas and Metals Mineral Resources Agency (JOGMEC) to the International Seabed Authority proposes to open production applications, recently approved.

The report also said that the Japanese government plans to formally begin from next year onwards resource surveys and technical development work.
