Trent West, the owner of nine patents that are related to the concept and manufacturing of Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S., was awarded a permanent injunction against Zenga Inc., prohibiting the sales of Tungsten Carbide rings.
The injunction, which was ordered on November 6, 2014, prohibits Zenga and those persons affiliated with Zenga, from making, using, offering to sell or selling Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S., or importing them into the U.S.
“We are immensely satisfied with the permanent injunction ordered against Zenga Inc. This injunction is a meaningful reward as we continue to protect Trent West’s innovation and implement his rights to defend his patents against infringers,” said West’s attorney, Edward King of King & Kelleher, LLP. “This injunction should serve as a warning to all sellers who illegally violate any of the nine patents covering all Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S. market.”
West has sued more than 20 sellers for violating his patents as part of an ongoing campaign to stop the unlawful infringement of distributing and/or selling Tungsten Carbide rings without a license.
Representing nearly one third of the men’s wedding band market, Tungsten Carbide has become the most popular contemporary metal used in wedding bands. As one of the hardest materials used in the manufacturing of rings, ranking only behind a diamond on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, Tungsten Carbide is the most scratch-resistant metal on the jewelry ring market.
