Tungsten Carbide Coatings Installs Third Large Reactor in UK

Tungsten carbide coatings has increased its installed capacity by nearly 50% to cope with increased demand for its range of nanostructured tungsten carbide coatings.The company has invested a six-figure sum to install a third large capacity reactor, part of an investment programme which will also recruit up to three additional operations staff to meet increasing demand from existing and new customers at its plant in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

“The installation of a third large capacity reactor at our plant in Bicester will enable us to increase production volumes while continuing with the development of new coating technologies and applications,” Philip Kirkham, CEO of Tungsten Carbide Coatings said. “As industries move in to more challenging and harsher environments, there is an increasing need for technologies which protect and extend the life of equipment and our coatings are proven to solve difficult problems while delivering dramatic improvements in component life.”

Tungsten Carbide Coatings, a developer of nanotechnology tungsten carbide-based coatings, has entered into a strategic supply agreement with GE to supply coating for a component currently used by GE.The US$1.3 million deal covers over the two years to February 2016 with the possibility of extending the agreement to five years.The companies plan to add additional components to the agreement if successful.
