Over the 15 days of action at the Ladbrokes PDC World Tungsten Dart Championship, thousands of fans arrive in all manner of weird and wonderful costumes.
But 42-year-old Anderson is top of the bad-fashion stakes this year given the number of ghastly T-shirts he has packed for this tournament.
And the Flying Scotsman is hoping the shirt hits the fan for his opponent Raymond van Barneveld tonight in the heavyweight clash of the third round.
Anderson, sponsored on the circuit by The Scottish Sun, said: “I’ve worn black or very dark navy blue T-shirts for the past 16 years.
“But I was recently approached by the Foul Fashion company, who asked if they could design me some shirts — and their motto is: ‘So Bad It’s Good!’
“At first I was a bit iffy about wearing them because I’m old school.
“But I don’t care now, I’m used to them. I just stick them on.
“I have about 20 of these shirts in my wardrobe. Each one of them is unique.
“Do I get any comments from my opponents? If they say anything it’s only because they are jealous!
“It’s a great gimmick to be fair and a lot of stag nights are using them now.
“And I don’t get any grief off the crowd — if anything most of them are buying the shirts, too.”
On a day when six of the world’s top seven ranked players are involved, Anderson’s encounter tonight with a resurgent Barney is, on paper at least, worthy of being a decent final.
The Dutchman is a legend of the oche with five world crowns on his CV — while Anderson is a former Premier League champion and was the runner-up in the 2011 World Championship.
And the greatest of them all, Phil Taylor — who faces Andy Hamilton in tomorrow’s quarter-finals — is relishing the battle between these two tungsten heavyweights. The 15-time world champion said: “Wow — now this is a game-and-a-half.
“That is a game I’d want to sit and watch in the audience — or I would like to call or mark the game.
“It’s a tough one to call, a 50-50 between two great players.
“Gary is scoring better than Barney but Barney in that first round scored better than Gary did. I wouldn’t like to say who will win.”
