CT Scanner Tungsten Alloy Collimator

CT scanner tungsten alloy collimator, as its name suggests, is tungsten alloy collimator used in the CT scanner. There are two tungsten alloy collimators on a CT scanner. And they are known as pre-patient collimator and post-patient collimator, respectively.

As tungsten alloy has high density and strong attenuation capabilities for X-rays, CT scanner tungsten alloy collimator has advantages as following as: Improve the quality of CT imaging; Reduce the radiation dose of patients; Adjust the thickness of CT scan layer. Lead was used to shield X-rays. While studies have shown that the attenuation ability of lead to X-rays is much weaker than that of tungsten alloy as the density of lead is less than that of tungsten alloy. So, lead collimators are being replaced with tungsten alloy collimators.

In recent months, due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia, CT chest has become one of the important screening methods, and therefore, CT scanners have attracted much attention. People pay more attention to radiation of CT examination. In fact, this problem is closely related to tungsten alloy collimator, as it plays the role of collimating and absorbing scattered X-rays, so the patient is exposed to X-ray radiation as little as possible. And it is estimated that demand for CT scanner tungsten alloy collimator will increase with the promotion of CT examination.
