Rare earth market update on february 11, 2025
The domestic rare earth market as a whole still maintains a positive operation, which is mainly reflected in the continuous and significant increase in the prices of mainstream products and the enhanced enthusiasm of traders for market operations.
Today, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by another 10,000 yuan per ton, the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately 12,000 yuan per ton, the price of holmium oxide increased by approximately 15,000 yuan per ton, and the price of dysprosium oxide increased by approximately 60,000 yuan per ton. Driven by the increase in raw material prices, the prices of rare-earth permanent-magnet materials and their waste also showed an upward trend. Today, the prices of 55N neodymium-iron-boron blank blocks and neodymium-iron-boron dysprosium waste increased by approximately 3 yuan per kilogram and 44 yuan per kilogram, respectively.
From the supply side, affected by factors such as the recent end of the Spring Festival holiday, the tightening of environmental protection policies, and the still relatively low current rare-earth selling prices, the production capacity utilization rate of some rare-earth manufacturers has not returned to normal, resulting in a tightening of the market spot supply. From the demand side, although the consumption capacity of magnetic material enterprises in the market is still insufficient, many downstream users, such as metal enterprises, are actively inquiring.
In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in January 2023, both the ex-factory prices and purchase prices of industrial producers nationwide decreased by 0.2% month-on-month. Regarding the month-on-month changes in industrial producer prices: in January, the prices of the extraction, raw material, and processing industries decreased by 0.2%, remained unchanged, and decreased by 0.3%, respectively. Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of ferrous metal materials, chemical raw materials, and fuel and power decreased by 0.3%, 0.2%, and 0.1%, respectively, while non-ferrous metal materials, wires, and building materials also decreased by 0.1%.
