Mo-doped WO3 nanowire can be used to prepare an electrochromic film, which may be applied to smart buildings for high thermal insulation. Some experts have prepared a high-quality Mo-doped WO3 ultra-fine nanowire with a diameter of about 3nm which is oriented by nano-crystals by a low-temperature atmospheric method. These nanowires are uniformly dispersed in water to form stable nano-ink.

The experts sprayed the WO3 nanowires on the heated FTO conductive glass, and the oriented nanocrystals will grow into nanoparticles, causing the nanowires to break. Due to the cross-network structure of the nanowires, a porous electrochromic film is prepared without soft and hard template. Next, the experts amplified the preparation technique of the porous electrochromic thin film under laboratory conditions to prepare an electrochromic device with a size of 10×10cm2. In addition, experts also mentioned that this spraying technology is expected to replace the vacuum coating process in the future, reducing the production cost of large-area electrochromic devices.
