Violet Tungsten Oxide Nanoparticles Applied for Heat-insulation Glass Coating

Violet tungsten oxide nanoparticles, or W18O49, may be used for producing heat-insulation glass coating. The popular heat insulating media- nano violet tungsten oxide is the only known non-stoichiometric tungsten oxide which exists in pure form with unique photochromic property, gaschromic property, photocatalysis and other properties.

The unique properties of violet tungsten oxide nano particles such as photochromism and near-infrared absorption are due to the existence of large number of oxygen vacancy defects in the crystal structures of violet tungsten oxide. However, the current research on the preparation of non-stoichiometric tungsten oxide (WO3-X), especially W18O49, is still in the exploratory stage. And generally the known methods for preparing tungsten oxide (WO3-X) have higher requirements on the reaction conditions. Moreover, the synthesis is difficult, the cost is high, and the product controllability is poor. Therefore, it is particularly important to explore a tungsten oxide (WO3-X) synthesis method with low cost, simple operation and excellent product morphology.
