Li-doped WO3 electrochromic film can be prepared by a sol-gel method. For example, some experts have prepared a Li doped tungsten trioxide electrochromic film by adding a LiCF3SO3 solution to a precursor solution using a sol-gel method.

According to experts, the transmittance modulation range of Li doping tungsten trioxide thin film doping with 5mol% Li increases from 55% (fade state) to 42% (colored state) before doping to 85% (fade state) to 25% (colored state) after doping. That is to say, the degree of discoloration of the doped tungsten trioxide film after doping is significantly increased. This is because the addition of Li makes the tungsten trioxide film structure more open, and produces stable Li-O chemical bonds after doping, which accelerates the migration of electrons and ions in the film, making the discoloration amplitude, reversibility and cycle stability of the Li doping WO3 nano film improved.
