Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online

Tungsten prices remained generally weak and in a downward correction this week, primarily driven by a combination of temporary profit-taking on the supply side and fear of high prices and bargaining strategies on the demand side. The current tungsten market fundamentals appear slightly loose, exerting some downward pressure on price trends.

Compared to the panic-driven atmosphere in the tungsten scrap market, the virgin tungsten raw material market is relatively rational. Tungsten ore still maintains a certain level of liquidity, and a moderate amount of cashed-out shipments can be taken up by traders and downstream suppliers. Trading in the APT and tungsten powder markets is somewhat stagnant. Downstream end-users still need time to digest the significant market fluctuations, and are generally adopting a wait-and-see approach. Purchasing and sales activity is relatively limited.

The price of 65% wolframite concentrate was reported at RMB 278,000/ton, down 2.8% week-on-week and up 94.4% year-on-year.

The price of 65% scheelite concentrate was reported at RMB 277,000/ton, down 2.8% week-on-week and up 95.1% year-on-year.

The price of ammonium paratungstate (APT) was RMB 405,000/ton, down 2.6% week-on-week and up 91.9% from the beginning of the year.

The price of tungsten powder was RMB 635/kg, down 1.6% week-on-week and up 101% from the beginning of the year.

The price of tungsten carbide powder was RMB 620/kg, down 1.6% week-on-week and up 99.4% from the beginning of the year.

The price of 70 ferrotungsten was RMB 400,000/ton, down 2.4% week-on-week and up 86.1% from the beginning of the year.

The price of scrap tungsten bar was RMB 385/kg, down 10.5% week-on-week and up 75% from the beginning of the year.
