Molybdenum Price - September 3, 2025

Molybdenum market update on September 3, 2025

The domestic molybdenum price continues to maintain a firm high-level pattern. Amid the interplay of supply-side reluctance to sell and rigid demand, market trading activity remains moderate, with no significant changes in product prices. Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and molybdenum oxide are approximately 4,580 yuan per ton-unit, 293,000 yuan per ton, and 4,660 yuan per ton-unit, respectively.

In the molybdenum concentrate market, with limited capacity release from molybdenum mining enterprises and steady downstream demand, suppliers generally exhibit strong reluctance to sell and price support, leading to a tightening supply of low-priced goods. Currently, industry players are primarily focused on the shipment status of mining enterprises.

In the ferromolybdenum market, although strong production cost support and significant market demand bolster the confidence of intermediate smelting enterprises to raise prices, the limited bidding prices offered by steel companies have resulted in only modest increases in ferromolybdenum prices.

In the molybdenum chemical and product markets, the overall situation is marked by a dilemma, with terminal customer inquiries yet to show notable increases and limited market-driving capacity from raw materials. As a result, prices of molybdates, molybdenum powder, and molybdenum bars fluctuate within a reasonable range.

In terms of news, according to the Steel Association’s monitoring, in July 2025, the average China Steel Price Index (CSPI) was 92.79 points, increased by 2.69 points month-on-month, with a rise of 2.98%; decreased by 7.67 points year-on-year, with a drop of 7.64%.
