Analysis of China's Rare Earth Prices in December 2023

According to information obtained by Chinatungsten Online, the price trend of rare earth products in China in December 2023 showed weakness.

Specifically, the prices of Praseodymium and Neodymium (PrNd) experienced a fluctuating downward trend, with prices at the beginning of the month higher than those at the end. However, towards the end of the month, some suppliers increased their quotes due to the significant production costs and increased downstream restocking enthusiasm. It is noteworthy that the listing price of Northern Rare Earths remained unchanged on a month-on-month basis but decreased compared to the same period last year.

Price Trend Chart of Rare Earth Products in 2023

In the medium and heavy rare earth market, represented by Dysprosium and Terbium products, the price trend showed a slight increase at the beginning of the month followed by a decline. At the start of the month, Dysprosium and Terbium prices continued a mild upward trend from late November. In the middle of the month, influenced by factors such as slow downstream demand and poor performance in the light rare earth market, supplier quotes remained relatively stable. Towards the end of the month, due to the arrival of the Christmas holiday and the reduction in production capacity by many overseas manufacturers, leading to a decrease in China's rare earth product exports, coupled with the impact of the release of the 2023 third batch of rare earth mining, smelting, and separation total control indicators, supplier quotes were further reduced.
