Terbium Oxide Prices – May 22, 2023

At the beginning of the week, China rare earth prices fluctuated in a narrow range as a whole. Affected by negative-positive factors, the trading atmosphere in the market was sluggish, and the mentality of light and heavy rare earth traders and permanent magnet material traders was slightly different.

Quotations from light and heavy rare earth suppliers tentatively rose, while quotations from magnetic material companies were relatively stable. Currently, the prices of terbium oxide, holmium oxide and dysprosium oxide have risen to around RMB 8,300/kg, RMB 635,000/ton and RMB 2,070,000/ton respectively.

According to Chinatungsten Online, the positive factors include: increased production cost support, low market spot inventory, and good development of rare earth downstream industries such as new energy vehicles; Negative factors include the current low opening rate of rare earth magnetic materials companies and the lack of momentum for global economic recovery.

In terms of news: According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in April 2023, China's automobile production and sales will complete 2.133 million and 2.159 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 76.8% and 82.7% respectively. Among them, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 640,000 and 636,000 respectively, an increase of 1.1 times year-on-year.
