China’s APT Price Stabilizes Despite of the Increase in New Guide Prices for Early July

The ferro tungsten and ammonium paratungstate (APT) price continues to remain stable on July 7, 2022 boosted by the increase in new guide prices from listed tungsten companies.

In addition, the low-carbon requirements and the cost pressure in the high inflation are still prominent, and stockholders are not willing to cut their profits. However, the concerns of the industry about the external economic environment have not eased. Uncertainties such as the epidemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continue to affect the enthusiasm of the consumer market. The demand for tungsten products is not yet clear, and the market resistance is obvious.

At present, high grade concentrate offers are raising to $16,923.1/mtu with limited order; APT price stands about $290.3/mtu and the market demand is sluggish; tungsten powder price is $39.1/kg with the alloy ends facing severe external environmental challenges.

Although most traders are optimistic about China's economic market during the year, especially the restorative growth in the second half of the year is expected to drive the domestic consumer market to heat up; however, the negative impact of overseas tightening policies on manufacturing demand is obvious, and the tungsten product industry has recently faced high costs and weak demand pressure. The industry's trading sentiment is not good, and the market trend is stalemate.

On the macro level, according to data from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, the global manufacturing purchasing managers' index in June hit a new low of 52.3% this year, down 1.2 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, Asia rose slightly, and Europe, the United States, and Africa all declined to varying degrees.
